LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University women's tennis team cruised past the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers 8-1 today in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match played at Bellarmine.
"This match was a lot closer than the final score might indicate," said Bellarmine Coach
John Mican. "We were down in both number one and number three doubles but fought back to win all three doubles matches, which really helped alleviate the pressure in singles."
Rebecca Porter won for the 99th and 100th time in her career as she overtakes
Sarah Roebker ('10) for second on the all-time wins list.
Freshman standout
Jamie Claeys won for the 26th time this year while Freshman
Kelly Hollingsworth won her 12th singles match in the last 13.
"The girls really stepped up big, defending their home courts and securing a conference victory," Mican said.
The Knights improve to 12-4 (1-1 GLVC), while the Panthers slip to 11-6 (0-2).
