LOUISVILLE, Ky.--- Two early goals would be all the Bellarmine University women's soccer team would need as they defeated Rockhurst University 2-1 on Friday night at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

The home team got on the board just 2:48 into the game when sophomore Lauren Boyd lifted a shot over Hawks' goalie Lucy Sullivan's head and into the goal. The goal was Boyd's first of the season and third of her young career.

Bellarmine (4-0-1, 3-0 GLVC) would add their second goal of the game when Alex Kowalski scored her team best, third of the season at the 31:08 mark when she picked up a deflection in the box and beat Sullivan, freshman Taylor Gamm picked up the assist on the play.

Rockhurst (2-1-1, 1-1-1) drew within a goal at the early in the second half when forward Taylor Skala beat Amy Kunowski for the goal. Kunowski, who was brilliant in goal, made a tremendous save with 35 seconds left in regulation.

Picking up her fourth win on the season, Kunowski made six saves on the day, her counterpart Sullivan registered five saves in the losing effort.

Bellarmine returns to action on Sunday as they host William Jewell College at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium for a match starting at noon.
