KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The top seven spots went unchanged and only one new team broke into the top 10 this week in the latest NABC/Division II men's basketball rankings, which again finds Bellarmine in the No. 5 postion in the rankings for the fourth straight week.
While West Liberty remains the No. 1 team, the new entry in the top 25 is Great Lakes Valley Conference member Drury, which debuts at No. 19, meaning the GLVC has five schools in the top 19 of the country. Bellarmine heads the list at No. 5 with Southern Indiana also in the top 10 at No. 7. Kentucky Wesleyan and Indianapolis are 13th and 14th respectively.
West Liberty posted two wins in conference play to up its record to 8-0 on the season and received 12 of the 16 first place votes in the process. The next four teams – Washburn, Metropolitan State, Alabama-Huntsville and Bellarmine -- each got a first place votes as well, while No. 6 Western Washington and No. 7 Southern Indiana held their positions in the poll.
The first change came at No. 8, where unbeaten Cal Poly Pomona jumped over last week's eighth-ranked team, Seattle Pacific. The last team in the top 10 is 8-0 Northwest Missouri State, who is in the top 10 for the first time since the first poll of the 2007-08 season.
St. Cloud State leads the second ten in this week's poll, followed by Franklin Pierce, Kentucky Wesleyan, Indianapolis and Augusta State. Barton dropped out of the top 10 following its loss at Shaw last Monday and landed at No.16, with Assumption and Indiana (Pa.) taking the next two spots. Drury vaulted into the top 25 for the first time this season as it checks in at No. 19 and Lincoln Memorial dropped nine spots to 20th after its overtime loss at Virginia-Wise over the weekend.
The final five teams this week are led by Minnesota State and Tampa, who makes its return to the rankings for the first time in nearly two seasons. Winston-Salem State, Findlay and Alaska-Anchorage complete this week's top 25.
