INDIANPOLIS --- Bellarmine University hurdler
Seth Sigler has been tabbed as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while freshman long jumper
Mariah Schwenk took home GLVC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Sigler, a junior, set a new field house record at the DePauw Small College Invitational after winning the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.08. This time improves upon Seth's previous NCAA provisional mark garnered at the Little Giant Invite two weeks ago. Sigler currently leads the GLVC in the 60 meter hurdles and his performance ranks 14th in all of NCAA DII. This is the second time this season that Sigler has been honored by the GLVC.
Schwenk takes home the weekly field honor after putting on an NCAA qualifying performance in the long jump with a 5.57 meter display at the DePauw Invitational. Schwenk's efforts not only earned her first place at the event, but also put her at the top of the conference rankings. Schwenk's performance also ranks 23rd in all of NCAA Division II. Most impressive about Schwenk's victory is that it marks only her fourth time competing in the long jump.
Bellarmine will split the track & field team this weekend, sending athletes to Indiana Hoosier Hills Invitational and the Grand Valley Big Meet.
