ROMEOVILLE, Ill. –The Bellarmine University softball team split a slugfest series with the Lewis University Flyers on Saturday, winning game one 2-1 before falling 8-6 in the finale.
Bellarmine(20-16, 11-7 GLVC) hit three homers in the doubleheader, continuing to lead the GLVC in home runs hit. Lewis moves their record to 16-19, 8-12 in the GLVC and had three bombs as well.

Megan Murdoch's two run shot in the top of the first was the difference as the Knights took the opener. Senior
Lauren Summe's single preceded Murdoch's homer as it would the only offense that Bellarmine needed in game one.
The host Flyers loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning, but
Alicia Miller got out of the jam by getting back-to-back ground outs to end the threat. Stranding runners would be the theme for Lewis throughout the game, stranding 10 in all.
Jayme Hefler's RBI single in the sixth pulled the Flyers with one, but Bellarmine held on for the 2-1 victory.
Miller (10-10) would earn the win in the circle, throwing the full 7.0 innings and giving up one earned run, Ali Brems (7-9) took the loss for Lewis.

The Flyers hit back-to-back homers in the fifth to earn the come from behind victory in the finale.
Scarlett Powers led off the second inning with a solo homer to left for her sixth home run of the season. Lewis would answer back in the bottom half of the inning though, plating two runs to take a 2-1 lead.
Powers would lead off the fourth inning with a single, as pinch runner
Lindsay Perry eventually scored on a bases loaded walk. Next up, Summe crushed a towering grand slam to deep center to take a 6-2 lead.
That lead was short lived as Mary Giancarlo hit a three-run homer and Michele Vucsko knocked a solo shot off
Amanda Meyer in the fifth to knot the game at 6-6. Vucsko finished the game 2-3 from the plate with a pair of home runs.
The Flyers' Lauren Hanford supplied the game-winner, hitting a two run single in the sixth. Meyer(10-6) was given the loss in the circle, giving up 10 hits over 4.2 inning.
