LOUISVILLE, Ky.--On a day when Bellarmine honored its seniors playing their last home matches, the Knights came out fired up and ready to play as they rolled past Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Kentucky Wesleyan 9-0 at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Senior Rebecca Porter earned her school record 136th & 137th wins as a Knight dominating in doubles and singles only losing 1 game on the day.
Senior Emily Roebker also picked up two wins, moving her past Mara Hourning into fourth place on the all-time wins list with 95 wins, three shy of her sister Sarah's 98.
Senior Keyly Knechtel also picked up a win in doubles teaming with Hannah-Rose Hagan for an 8-6 decision.
The underclassmen closed out the scoring as sophomore sensation Jamie Claeys picked up wins in doubles and singles while sophomore Abby Dorton, freshman Evann Waschuk and freshman Elizabeth Crush all went to a super tiebreak third set to seal the shutout victory for the Knights.
"I will say unequivocally that Becca, Emily and Keyly will never be replaced," said Bellarmine Coach John Mican. "They have set the bar very high for all future Knights with their play on the tennis courts, their sportsmanship, their loyalty to their teammates and their excellence in the classroom."
The Knights now hit the road for their final five regular season matches, beginning April 6 at the University of Indianapolis.
