The Bellarmine University women's tennis team closed its 2011-12 season on a positive note by rolling past Centre 7-2 in a dual match held Tuesday in Danville.

The Knights went up 2 to 1 after the doubles with a quick win at number two and a come from behind win at number one as Bellarmine Coach John Mican used some new doubles teams in the season finale.

In singles, the Knights were able to take five of the six matches: Jamie Claeys won her 17th singles match on the year at number two; Kelly Hollingsworth ran her combined record on the year to 32 -6 with a win at number three singles; Abby Dorton earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four; Elizabeth Crush pushed her singles record in dual matches to 5-0 this year with a win at number five; and Makeala Knight finished out the scoring for the Knights with a 10-8 third set super tiebreak win.

The win is the fourteenth for the Knights on the school year which ties the school record for most wins.

"Of course it will be hard to replace our seniors (Rebecca Porter, Emily Roebker and Keyly Knechtel), but this is a very talented group of young women," said Mican, "and with the addition of some excellent freshman that have committed, this will continue to be an exciting team to watch."
