PEORIA, Ill. --- The Bellarmine University softball team was eliminated from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Norse of Northern Kentucky, 7-5.

Now Bellarmine (32-27) will have to wait and see if they are one of the six teams from the Midwest Region to earn an invite to the NCAA Tournament. Heading into the weekend the Knights were seeded fifth, the selection show is slated for Monday April, 30 at 10:00 a.m.

Bellarmine led 5-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Norse scored five runs in the inning and added two more in the sixth to eliminate the Knights for the second consecutive season.

Outfielder Erin Sireno put Bellarmine on the board in the second, hitting a home run to deep centerfield to bring in catcher Scarlett Powers. Sireno would cross the plate again in the fourth on a RBI single by Lauren Summe.

In the third, Megan Murdoch notched a record setting two-run homer to give the Knights a 4-0 lead. It was the junior shortstop's 13th home run of the season, setting a new single-season school record as well as tying Jordan Basham's career-record of 30.

NKU's Kaylin Steinmetz led off the fifth with a solo homer as the Norse added two more home runs in the inning, a three-run homer by Natalie Papi and another solo shot by Katelyn Roy, to tie the game at five. Northern Kentucky added two more runs in the sixth to put away the Knights for good.

Alicia Miller started the game and went 3.0 innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits. The freshman from Alexandria, Ky. added to her school record for innings pitched in a season which sits at 222.2 after Saturday's game. Amanda Meyer(16-10) came in for relief to take the loss, giving up three runs, two of them earned, in 3.0 innings of work.
