EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The Bellarmine University baseball team had to work a little overtime today, but the Knights swept a doubleheader from host Southern Indiana by the scores of 4-1 and 3-1 (in 9 innings).

In game one, the Knights got a 3-RBI performance from freshman Andy Gehr to lead the Knights offensively while Phil Forbis pitched six and two-thirds strong innings to pick up the win.  Justin Strohmeier threw the final inning and a third and picked up his third save of the season.

In game two, which was scheduled for seven innings, senior Kyle Roden came up big capping a 4-for-5 day with a 2-run double in the top of the ninth to lift Bellarmine to the extra inning victory. Justin Eberenz also swung a hot bat for the Knights in the second game, going 3-fo-r4 with a run scored as he and Roden combined for seven of the Knights' nine base hits.

Ben Fuchs got the start in the second game and was solid in his five and a third innings of work, surrendering just one earned run. Cory Thomas worked the final three innings without allowing a run to pick up his third win of the season.

With the sweep, Bellarmine improves to 17-10 overall and 9-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.  The Screaming Eagles fall below .500 at 14-15 with a 5-11 GLVC record.

The Knights and Screaming Eagles play another doubleheader tomorrow with a 1 p.m. (noon CDT) start.
