Knights cruise to 3-0 victory in exhibition opener

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Getting their first taste of in game action, the No. 21 Bellarmine University women's soccer team easily handled Campbellsville University 3-0 on Saturday night in a preseason exhibition matchup.

The Knights dominated the game from the get go, outshooting the Tigers 28-4 and controlling possession for the majority of the game.

Junior striker Lauren Boyd opened up the game's scoring in 18th-minute, lofting a shot from 10-yards out into an empty net after CU keeper Brandie Hagerman left her post and failed to corral a loose ball.

Coach Jonathan Velotta's squad also received goals from Alex Kowalski and Emily Hollander, who led the team with six shots in the game. Mackenzie Barringhaus picked up the only other point for the Knights, being credited with an assist on Kowalski's goal.

In goal, senior Amy Kunowski made one save before giving way to Erin Ottman midway through the second half. In all, 22 Knights saw action including Ottman and fellow freshman Darcy Egan.

Bellarmine returns to action on Wednesday night as they play Centre College in an exhibition game at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium, game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
