The Bellarmine University men's tennis team turned in a dominating performance over the weekend at the Centre College Tournament, winning 14 of the18 matches they played.
Senior
Anton Rabinov led the way again for the Knights winning the number one singles flight without dropping a game. "Anton is playing unbelievable tennis,” said Coach
John Mican. “The great part is that he is committed to getting even better and making noise in the GLVC."
Igal Mostkov won the number two singles flight with two gutsy wins while teaming up with Rabinov to win the number one doubles bracket. Meanwhile a pair of underclassmen, sophomore
Logan Knott and freshman
Nathan Walroth, were victorious in claiming the number two doubles flight.
Knott just missed winning the number four singles flight for Bellarmine falling in a third set super tie-break.
In other singles action,
Carlos Antonioli showed veteran poise in saving five match points before winning an up and down match 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 10-7 and runs his season record to 6-1.
Alan Gardiner also had a strong tournament, finishing out the scoring by winning the number seven bracket while only dropping on two games in route to the championship.
Bellarmine returns to action on Thursday Sept. 27th, heading to Indianapolis, Ind. for the prestigious ITA Tournament.
