Box Score Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Bellarmine University men's soccer team lost a 0-1 contest at Indianapolis in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament first round Sunday afternoon. The seventh-seed Knights held the second-seed and ninth-ranked Greyounds close but could not pull out a win.
The first half remained scoreless through the 45 minutes of action in Indianapolis. Both squads took four shots in the half, with Bellarmine firing the final two shots of the period in the waning minutes. However, neither team could capitalize and the half came to a close knotted 0-0.
The Greyhounds did not take long in the second half to take the lead. Just three minutes into the period, UIndy junior forward Ngwese Ebangwese netted his 13th of the season on a cross by redshirt-senior midfielder Roger Lee to give Indianapolis the 1-0 lead.
Despite Bellarmine's five shots in the second half, the Knights failed to put the ball past redshirt-junior goalkeeper Andrew Verhonik who recorded five saves in the game on Bellarmine's nine total shots.
Indianapolis (14-2-2, 13-1-2 GLVC) has now won 10 in a row and moves on to the semifinals of the GLVC tournament to face sixth-seed Drury who topped third-seed Lewis 1-0.
With the loss, Bellarmine's season ends with an 8-6-4 overall record and a 6-6-4 mark in the GLVC.
