Box Score Kansas City, Mo. -- After surrendering two first half goals to the Rockhurst Hawks, the Bellarmine University women's soccer team lost their first round Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament game 0-2.

The Knights fell behind early. In the 16th minute, junior forward Taylor Skala took a pass from Julia Bartolacci, broke away from the Bellarmine defense, maneuvered past Bellarmine freshman goalkeeper Hannah Poteet and put the ball in the goal for an early 1-0 Rockhurst lead.

The outlook did not get any better for Bellarmine as the Hawks scored again 10 minutes later on a goal by senior midfielder Katie Kujawa on assists from Skala and Bartolacci.

Rockhurst had the upper-hand on shots in the period, 9-5. Poteet pulled in four saves for the Knights in the period.

The Knights fought toward goal in the second period, firing eight shots in the half. The BU defense stymied the Rockhurst attack in the period as well, allowing just a single shot. However, Bellarmine was denied a goal and the game came to an end with the Knights behind 0-2.

Bellarmine outshot the Hawks 13-10 for the game. Freshman forward Mary Beth Gorham led BU with four shots. Freshman Rockhurst goalkeeper Ali Wallner made five saves.

The Knights will await the NCAA tournament selection to find out if they will continue play this season.
