OWENSBORO, Ky. --- The Bellarmine University women's tennis team turned in a stellar performance from top to bottom on Friday afternoon, going on the road to take down the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers 9-0 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference tennis match.
Freshman
Michelle McFerran led the squad with two victories, winning 6-2, 6-0 in No. 2 singles and teaming up with fellow rookie
Caitlin Hanley for the 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles.
“A road conference win is always sweet,” said Coach
John Mican. “The Panthers fought had but we were in control of the match from the start and I'm more than pleased with the performance.”
Junior Jaimie Clays continued to climb up the program's all-time wins list as the Greenwood, Ind. native moved to ninth all-time, pairing with
Abby Day for a doubles victory. Meanwhile senior
Hannah-Rose Hagan now sits in sixth place on the list with a 8-0 doubles win with
Evann Waschuk.
With two points today, McFerran now leads the squad with 28 victories, as the Knights will hit the court again on Saturday with a match at IU-Southeast at 10:00 AM.
