LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The women's golf team continued Bellarmine Athletics drive to make positive changes in the community by raising money for Make-A-Wish by selling of links to make a “Chain of Love.”
The team sold strips to friends and family and raised $270 for the foundation that grants wishes to children with terminal diseases. “As a team we were very excited to raise money for Make-A-Wish,” said senior
Maggie Schad. “We had a great outpouring of support from our loved ones and just happy that we can make a difference.”
The team wrote the names of each person who contributed to the chain and will take it to the local chapter of the foundation. Make-A-Wish is the official charity of NCAA Division-II Athletics and the Bellarmine Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has challenged each its teams to do a service project to benefit the foundation.
Since forming a partnership in 2003, NCAA Division-II and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have raised more than $1.9 million through contributions from student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans. Through these donations, Make-A-Wish has been able grant countless wishes to kids with terminal disease.
