WASHINGTON - The Tewaaraton Award Foundation has released their list of the 25 college lacrosse players who are nominees for the coveted Tewaaraton Trophy, and Bellarmine goalkeeper
Dillon Ward has made the list.
Presented by the Tewaaraton Foundation and the University Club of Washington D.C., the Tewaaraton Trophy has been given out annually since 2001 to the most outstanding college lacrosse player in the nation.
Being named to the Tewaaraton nominee list is a fitting way for the senior, Ward, to end his illustrious Bellarmine career. The Orangeville, Ontario native has had a break-out season making 192 stops and leading the nation in save percentage at 66.7%. Ward's 192 saves this season have added to his impressive career numbers, making him the all-time leader in career saves in Bellarmine history with 560. Ward also leads the Knights' career ranks in save percentage (56.6), saves per game (10.77) and wins (19). Ward is also one of very few netminders with the distinction of being a goal-scorer, after scoring in a 13-9 win over Michigan in 2012.
The winner of the 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy will be announced at the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on May 30 at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C.
