LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University women's tennis team kept its conference record unblemished with a 7-2 victory over St. Joseph's College in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at BU's Eddie Weber Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.

After taking two of the three doubles matches, the Knights cruised to victory with five wins in the singles portion of the contest.

"Evann Waschuk and Hannah-Rose Hagan each came through big for us today," said Bellarmine Coach John Mican.  "First they teamed up to win the number two doubles match, then each won their singles matches."

Waschuk scored the clinching point in dramatic fashion by winning a close 3-set singles match in a third set tie-breaker 8-6.

The doubles portion of the competition featured a match pitting sister versus sister with Bellarmine's Jamie Claeys going up aginst St. Joseph's Emily Claeys.  Jamie Claeys teaming with Abby Day to score an 8-6 victory over Emily Clayes and her partner Katie Guernsey.

Bellarmine improves to 12-5 overall on the year with a 4-0 GLVC record.  St. Joseph's falls to 8-5, 0-3 GLVC.

The Knights return to action Saturday morning with a 10 a.m. conference match at home against the University of Indianapolis.  The match has been declared a "white out," and fans are encouraged to wear white to show their support. Bellarmine Tennis T-shirts will be handed out to Knights fans coming to the match (while supplies last).
