HERSHEY, Pa.—The Bellarmine University men's golf team opened the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship with a team score of 302 (+18) today at Hershey Country Club's East Course and are tied for 13
th in the 20-team field.
Alex Foley paced the Knights with a 2-over par 73 today highlighted by an eagle on the par 5 14
th hole.
Bryan Ratterman and
Jack Clare each posted 75s, and
David Shearn carded a 79 to complete the Bellarmine scoring.
Barry University bolted out to a six-stroke lead on the field with an even par round of 284, and Barry's Adam Svensson is the individual leader after his opening round 68 (-3).
The top eight teams after three rounds of play advance on to the “medal-match” portion of the tournament to determine the team national champion. The individual champion is crowned after 54 holes.
