HERSHEY, Pa.—The Bellarmine University men's golf team struggled to a 314 (+30) team score today, dropping the Knights four spots into 17
th after two rounds at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship being played at the Hershey Country Club's East Course.
Only two Knights broke 80 today at the par 71 layout with Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year
Bryan Ratterman leading the team with a 74.
Jack Clare, playing in the number five position, carded a 77 in a steady round that featured 12 pars, but yielded no birdies.
Yesterday's low Bellarmine player,
Alex Foley, was 10 strokes higher in today's round with an 83, and
David Shearn suffered a bogey-bogey finish to post an 80.
Ryan Glass, Bellarmine's “No. 3 man,” continued his troubles and finished with an 89 today.
Barry University continues to lead the team competition, extending its lead to 10 shots after a second round 288. The top eight teams after three rounds advance to “medal-match” play, which will determine the team champion.
In the individual competition, Rob Damschen of Cal-State Stanislaus posted rounds of 70 and 68 to take a one shot advantage over Matt Atkins of South Carolina-Aiken. The medalist will be crowned after tomorrow's third round.
