ST. LOUIS -- The Bellarmine University women's tennis team concluded its season in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament on Friday afternoon with a 0-5 loss to the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons in St. Louis, Mo.

Michelle McFerran and the newly-honored All-GLVC team member Evann Waschuk fought hard at the one doubles position, but came up just short, 8-6. Heading into singles play, the Knights trailed 0-3, hoping for a quick turnaround in the tournament's opening day of matches. However, a pair of UMSL singles wins ended the Knights' day early when the region's sixth-ranked team reached the magic number of five wins on the afternoon. With Bellarmine mathematically unable to win, the match was called with four matches left unfinished.

Waschuk won her first set in singles, 6-4 but her match was called early with the junior trailing 0-2 in the second set.

Bellarmine's season ends with an 11-6 overall record. Missouri-St. Louis improves to 16-5 overall and will face the East's first seed Lewis University in the semifinals.
