LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University Student Athletic Advisory Committee raised money to purchase Christmas gifts for its Family Scholar House adopted family.
The Family Scholar House is a nonprofit organization that helps families in need by providing academic and family support services and affordable housing throughout the Louisville area.
All Knights athletic team members donated one dollar or more in order to raise $850 to provide basic necessities, clothing and toys for their family this Christmas season.
Bellarmine men's soccer sophomore and SAAC representative Zach Pogue said it is important for the Bellarmine student-athlete community to help those in need achieve their dreams.
"Donating to the Family Scholar House is a great way to show that we appreciate and are thankful for all the love and blessings we have received throughout our lives," Pogue said. "Making a family's dreams come true, especially around Christmas, makes it that much more special and enjoyable."
The SAAC is a comprised of representatives from each athletic team who are the direct link between student-athletes, the Bellarmine athletic administration and the NCAA. Members meet multiple times a year to discuss NCAA regulations, sports-related issues and help the Louisville community through various team service projects.
