LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For the second year in a row, the Bellarmine University wrestling team purchased and passed out flowers to members of campus and the community.
Members of the team passed out over 35 mums.
"We give one to someone on campus who has helped us in a moment of need, someone we care about or just someone that we may want to brighten their day," junior
Gage Branson said. "We then give another one to someone in the community — maybe a cashier at a store, someone at the park or just someone who looks like they may be having a bad day. The smile you get you when give someone a mum is priceless."
"Sharing with faculty and staff is important to us because they are the people that help us to succeed on the mat and in the classroom," junior
Andy Dobben said. "Because we are a new sport on campus, this is a great way for people to get to know us and learn a little about wrestling."
Dobben gave a mum to a cashier at Qdoba, who jokingly asked Dobben if the flowers were brought for her when he approached and was delighted when she learned she was the intended recipient.
"She was so surprised and happy. It was awesome," Branson said. "That's why we do it: to make our campus and community a happier and a better place."
