Knights women's tennis falls in GLVC Tournament to No. 14 Drury

ST. LOUIS — The Bellarmine University women's tennis team was eliminated Friday from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament after suffering a 1-5 loss to 14th-ranked Drury in the quarterfinals at the Sunset Tennis Center.

Senior Sydney Thompson and freshman Jennifer Skonieczny picked up a win at No. 2 doubles for Bellarmine (18-5), the GLVC East's No. 2 seed, against Drury (19-2), the West's No. 3 seed.

The Panthers notched wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles and Nos. 4-6 singles to seal the victory, with Nos. 1-3 singles left unfinished. The Knights competed without two-time All-GLVC selection Maggie Walroth.

Bellarmine entered the conference tournament ranked ninth in the Midwest Region. The NCAA Tournament selection show will take place Tuesday night.
