LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Bellarmine University Head Dance Team Coach
Janine Klutka announced the addition of two former dance team members to her coaching staff for the 2017-18 season.
Ashley Brown and
Megan Bryan will begin their duties immediately as they join
Rachel Kanter as assistant coaches on Klutka's staff.
Brown served as a captain of the Bellarmine team that captured the national title in 2015. She danced all four years of her Bellarmine career, receiving an All-American nomination her senior year. While on the team, she served as Line Captain, Spirit Captain, and Student Athletic Advisory Committee Representative. She received the Most Valuable Dancer Award in 2015 in addition to receiving three Fred J. Karem Scholastic Achievement Awards.
Brown's dance career started in the studio setting, with 14 years of tap, jazz, ballet, modern, pointe, and hip hop training. She was also a four-year member of the Terre Haute North Vigo High School Dance Team. Ashley was an assistant coach for the Noe Middle School Dance Team during the 2016-2017 year, helping guide the team to its first state championship title in school history.
A 2015 Bellarmine graduate with a bachelor of science in nursing, Brown currently works as an oncology nurse in Louisville.
As an undergraduate dance team member, Bryan also was a member of Bellarmine's history-making 2015 national championship squad. A 2017 Bellarmine graduate, the BU Dance Team advanced to the NDA finals all four years of Bryan's collegiate career, and she earned an NDA All-American nomination in 2016. She served as the Dance Team's Unity Chair in 2016-2017 year and received the Coaches Award in 2017.
Bryan's dance experience includes 11 years of studio training where she danced competitively for seven years in jazz, hip hop, tap, and ballet. She danced competitively for Mercy Academy for four years, helping them win their first national championship.
Bryan also holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Bellarmine and is part of the Critical Care Float Team at Norton Women and Children's Hospital.
