LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's tennis team designed Christmas gift boxes which they filled with supplies and donated to the Coalition for the Homeless.
The Knights took their old tennis shoe boxes and decorated them with paint and holiday wrapping paper. Everyone on the team then made a monetary contribution to help gather supplies in the 17 boxes they designed. The materials included in each box consisted of food, water, gloves, hats, scarves and soap. The boxes went directly to the homeless through the Coalition for the Homeless.
"We as a team believe homelessness is prevalent in Louisville," the Knights'
Ashley Jonathan and
Jennifer Skonieczny said. "To help bring an end to homelessness in Louisville, we supported the Coalition for the Homeless this holiday season. Many members of the team said they loved this community service project because 'it is more personal and the lives that you touch are more noticeable.' We are happy to have partnered with the Coalition for the Homeless to help prevent and end homelessness in Louisville. We were thrilled when we received a personal letter from the Coalition for the Homeless thanking us for our donations. They were very appreciative!"
