Knights lacrosse to face Wolverines in Tuesday afternoon game

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine lacrosse team will look to even its record on Tuesday when the Knights travel to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines at 3 p.m.

Tuesday's game will be the sixth meeting in the series with Michigan holding a 2-3 edge.  Last year the Wolverines took a 13-5 decision over the Knights in Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

Michigan is coming off an 8-6 season and welcomes back junior Brent Noseworthy, who ranked 14th in the nation a year ago with 37 goals.  Noseworthy, along with junior attackman Rocco Sutherland and sophomore longstick midfielder JM Priddy were named to the Big Ten Preseason honors list.

The Wolverines are under new leadership in 2018 as Kevin Conry enters his first season as head coach of the Michigan program. He comes to the Wolverines after serving as a defensive coach and associate head coach for Maryland.

Michigan won its season opener on Saturday, defeating Cleveland State 15-5 in Ann Arbor. Noseworthy picked up where he left off in 2017 by netting five goals while Alex Buckanavage added three goals and two assists.

The Knights come in 0-1 after dropping its season opener to Robert Morris on Friday. With injuries sidelining several of Bellarmine's upperclassmen, a trio of younger players emerged as the top offensive weapons.

Freshman Landon Trout tallied a hat trick and added an assist against Robert Morris while classmate Luke Legnard was credited with three points on a goal and two assists. Sophomore Morgan Macko matched Legnard's offensive statistics to total three points as well.

A pair of freshmen handled all of Bellarmine's face-off duties in the home opener, combining to win 13 of 25 with Michael Autry recording seven wins and J.T. Simonton winning six.

Bellarmine's defense also saw a number of younger players on the field with senior All-Southern Conference defenseman Kevin Fahey, being one of the Knights who was sidelined for the opener. Redshirt freshman Ian Reilly got the start in goal with sophomore Jordan Dondoyano working the final quarter between the pipes.
