CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian scored four runs in the second and added several insurance runs late in capturing a 9-3 victory over the Bellarmine University baseball team Friday night at the PC Baseball Complex.
Senior first baseman
Jacob Mulcahy went 3-for-4 in the series opener for Bellarmine (1-10). Senior third baseman
Colin Bertsch added two hits and an RBI against Presbyterian (5-5), which was an NCAA Tournament team last season.
Ryan Ouzts hit a three-run homer in the second to stake Presbyterian to a 4-0 lead. The Knights got to within one after junior second baseman
Drew Buhr and Bertsch had RBI singles in the fourth, and freshman designated hitter
Casey Sorg collected an RBI on a ground out in the sixth.
Presbyterian regained its cushion with a three-run seventh and added two more runs in the eighth. The Blue Hose held the Knights scoreless over the final three innings.
Bellarmine and Presbyterian will meet in the second of the three-game series at 3 p.m. (ET) Saturday.
