The Bellarmine University softball team was swept by visiting Lincoln Memorial 5-2 and 2-0 this afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Knights Field.
The losses drop Bellarmine's season mark to 9-13, while the Railsplitters improve to 17-4.
In game one, the visitors got a big game from catcher Devin Sponseller, who went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs. The Knights were led by senior right fielder Emma Raver, who collected two hits and one of Bellarmine's two RBIs.
In game two, the Knights outhit Lincoln Memorial 5-3, but three Bellarmine errors helped the Railsplitters pull out the 2-0 victory. Sponseller continued her solid offensive play with two of LMU's three hits and getting the only RBI of the game. Lauren Summe had the only multi-hit game for the Knights going 2-for-3.
Bellarmine gets back into conference play this weekend with road doubleheaders at Missouri S&T and Maryville on Saturday and Sunday.
