Knights field hockey lends hand at Bellarmine Run for Ryann

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University field hockey team volunteered recently at the annual Bellarmine Run for Ryann.

The Knights directed and cheered runners on in Joe Creason Park. This run celebrates the life of Ryann Tewell, a graduate of Bellarmine who passed away in 2014. The money raised goes to the Ryann Tewell Scholarship Fund.

Junior Storm Thompson said that she enjoyed the opportunity to interact with runners and walkers at the race.

"One of the runners stopped at my station to check on the baby she was pushing in a stroller," Thompson said. "When I complimented the little girl, she told me she was named Ryann Marie in memory of Ryann. It almost brought me to tears thinking about Ryann and how much this run means to her loved ones."
