LOUISVILLE, Ky.— Bellarmine softball is back on the field starting this Sunday despite more scheduling changes. The Knights will still compete in the Golden Eagle Classic, hosted by Tennessee Tech, but BU's four games have been shifted back to Sunday and Monday.
Bellarmine begins with a matchup against Tennessee Tech at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, followed by a 3:30 p.m. ET game versus Indiana State. Monday features an 11:00 a.m. ET matchup with Tennessee Tech and 1:30 p.m. game against Quinnipiac.
Tennessee Tech is 12-6 this season coming off a three-game sweep of East Tennessee State. The Golden Eagles' biggest win of the season came against Pittsburgh on Feb. 26 (10-7 victory). Indiana State's record is carried by a seven-game win streak, including victories against Stetson out of the ASUN, this weekend's host Tennessee Tech, and Butler. Bella Peterson leads Indiana State with a .383 batting average and 1.114 OPS this year. Lexi Benko has been ISU's top pitcher with a 2.09 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.
Quinnipiac has not had much of a chance to get on the field, playing just four games so far. The Bobcats are 1-3, with their last game coming against Sacred Heart on Feb. 23. After starting the season with three straight losses, Quinnipiac broke through in that game, beating Sacred Heart 4-1. Serena Fogg is off to the best start for the Bobcats, going 6-13 through the first four games. Kayla Thomas has already hit two home runs as well.
