ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Bellarmine University's No. 25 women's soccer team got two goals from senior Amanda Moore to defeat their hosts Maryville University 2-1 today in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game.
The win elevated the Knights to 11-2 overall,and their 9-2 conference mark leaves them alone in second, just a half game behind league-leading Northern Kentucky. The win clinched Bellarmine a berth in the GLVC postseason tournament.
The game looked as if it might go into halftime scoreless, but with less than a minute remaining, Moore rifled a shot off the post and rebounded her own miss and converted to give Bellarmine a 1-0 advantage.
The Saints (5-9-1, 2-4-1) came right back after the intermission and tied it with a goal from Jackie Haas just two and half minutes into the second half. Moore came back to get the game-winner for Bellarmine in the 66th minute.
Bellarmine returns home to close out their regular season with games on Friday and Sunday, facing Missouri St.-Louis and Southern Indiana respectively.
