WILDER, Ky.--For the 11th time this season, the Bellarmine University women's soccer team found itself in a game that ended 1-0, but this time the Knights were on the short end of the scoreboard as the Quincy Hawks claimed victory in the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinal game at Town and Country Soccer Complex in northern Kentucky.
Quincy's Brittany Casey tallied the game's lone goal, as the Hawks got off five shots on goal with Bellarmine's Amy Kunowski registering four saves for the Knights. Bellarmine held a 4-1 advantage on corners, but couldn't convert.
The loss drops the 20th-ranked Bellarmine to 13-3-1, but the Knights can look forward to a probable NCAA tournament berth, which would be the first since the Knights started women's soccer in 1990.
Quincy, the GLVC tournament's No. 2 seed, scored its second victory over the Knights this season having won a home contest 2-1 during the regular season. The Hawks, 14-4-1, will meet Northern Kentucky in the GLVC Championship Game tomorrow.
