LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University men's tennis team evened their season record at 1-1 with a victory over Indiana University Southeast on Friday at Bellarmine's Sport, Recrecreation and Fitness Center.
Bellarmine's sweep of the doubles competition led the Knights to a 7-2 victory over the Grenadiers. "Winning the three doubles matches gave us tremendous momentum heading into the singles," said Bellarmine Coach
John Mican. "It allowed us to relax and go for our shots."
Michael Heinekamp and
Alex Chanley both recorded their first victories as Knights, teaming up at 3 doubles then later winning at 5 and 6 singles, only giving up three games combined.
"I can't say enough about the support our fans provided today," Mican said. "The spectators who came out some saw excellent tennis, especially the three set match at number one singles between
Jacob Knagenhjelm and Matt Coomer."
