LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine University men's tennis team evened its record at 2-2 after scoring a 7-2 victory over Georgetown College at match in Bellarmine's Sport, Recreation and Fitness Center on Saturday.
The Knights swept the doubles portion of the competition to take an early lead, and then won four of six singles matches.
"This match was a lot tougher than the final team score might indicate," said Bellarmine Coach
John Mican. "We had to fight for every point in the singles matches, but coming out strong in doubles was again the key.
"We have found a combination of three strong doubles teams that give us a great chance to post wins at all three positions."
Todd Atcher secured the Knights' first point in singes winning the No. 3 match in straight sets.
Jacob Knagenhjelm then won a seond set tie-breaker to secure Bellarmine's fifth point of the day, and assure a team victory.

Paul Clark coming away victoious (4-6, 6-4 , 10-8) at No. 4 and
Carlos Antonioli dropping a heartbreaker at No. 2 singles (5-7, 6-3, 15-13). "Even though he came up just short,
Carlos Antonioli was simply brilliant in his match," Mican said. "The shot making by both players was superb throughout the match, especially in the third set super tie-breaker which included several 20 plus stroke rallies and each player saving match points."
Chip Jabaley finished the Bellarmine scoring at number six in another hard fought battle. "Chip was every where and pulled out every shot in his arsenal to take this win," Mican said.
