The Bellarmine men's tennis team competed in the USTA/ITA Midwest regional held this past weekend in Granville, Mich., highlighted by freshman Alan Gardiner winning the singles “B” flight.

Gardiner captured the title by outlasting teammate and doubles partner Alex Chanley in a tough semi-final match which went to the third set super tie break.

"It's great to see Allan find his game, said Bellarmine Coach John Mican. “ He has worked harder than anyone this fall, and winning this title should give him the confidence to take his game to the next level."

Other highlights of the tournament included Anton Rabinov and Igal Mostkov each picking up two singles wins in the main draw and teaming up for two wins in the doubles draw before falling to the eventual winners Diego Gimenez and Juan Quiroz, from Southern Indiana,  8-6. Jacob Knagenhjelm and Carlos Antonioli each grabbed a singles win and combined for two doubles wins at the tournament.
