LOUISVILLE, Ky.--After helping lead his Wydad (Casablanca) team to the Morocco League professional basketball championship, Bellarmine alumnus Jeremy Kendle has signed to play in Switzerland this coming season, and former Knight standout
Chris Dowe has joined Kendle in the professional ranks after signing to play in Germany this year.
KENDLE:
Kendle has signed with the SAM Massagno Club of the top professional basketball league in Switzerland, the Ligue Nationale de Basketball (LNBA). The 6-2 point guard signed in July with the club headquartered in southern Switzerland near Milan, Italy.
Having already earned his bachelor's degree, Kendle sacrificed his fourth year of eligibility at Bellarmine to pursue a professional playing career. In just three years as a Knight, Kendle became the only Bellarmine player to rank in the top five in career points and assists. His 1,792 points are fourth most in Bellarmine history and his 357 assists rank fifth all-time.
DOWE:
After finishing up a Bellarmine career that saw him be a part of 109 wins including the 2011 national championship,
Chris Dowe has signed to play for the Schwelmer Baskets in Germany's "Pro-B" basketball league.Â
For Dowe, the move into the professional ranks is moving quickly. After signing on Sunday, the 6-3 guard is set to leave Louisville on Wednesday (Aug. 7) and will play his first preseason game on Saturday although the regular season won't start until October.
The Eastern High School graduate said, "(Schwelmer) had the top record in the league last year, so I'll get to play for a good team and a good coach." Dowe added, "I got the chance to talk to coach (Raphael Wilder), and he sees me as a combo guard who can play the point or the two, but he wants me to score so I'll probably play mostly the two."
