Bill Carey picked up his first win as the new head coach of the Bellarmine University women's tennis team as the Knights defeated Martin Methodist 4-3 on Saturday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Bellarmine (1-0) swept the three doubles matches, as senior
Maggie Walroth and junior
Ashley Jonathan won at No. 1, junior
Jennifer Skonieczny and sophomore
Ava Ratcliff won at No. 2, and sophomore
Aubrey Smith and freshman
Madison Devillez won at No. 3.
After gaining that point in doubles play, Bellarmine clinched the victory by triumphing in three singles matches. Jonathan, at No. 3, Smith, at No. 5, and Devillez, at No. 6, combined to drop only two games in rolling through their singles contests.
Bellarmine will play at Indiana University Southeast on Oct. 20.
