After a loss (fall 6:43) to Tyler Dow of Wisconsin, Schroeder bounced back with three consecutive victories, including a 3-2 win by decision against Sergio Villalobos of SIUE.  Schroeder's finish was the highest by a Bellarmine Knight.

As a team, Bellarmine finished sixth, totaling 71 points on the day.  The full team results are below:

  1. Wisconsin (192.5)
  2. Northern Illinois (129.5)
  3. Brown (111.5)
  4. Little Rock (111.0)
  5. SIU Edwardsville (110.5)
  6. Bellarmine (71.0)

"There were some bright spots today for sure," Knights Head Coach Ned Shuck said.  "The level of fight our guys are bringing continues to rise! I am really proud of Sam Schroeder getting a big win over an opponent he lost to early last month in our home dual.  It was also great to get some of our guys on the mat this weekend that haven't been able to compete yet."

Eric Beck (174) wrestled his way to fourth place, picking up his first fall (4:38) of the season as well.  Mitch Collica (149) and Charlie Cadell (184) also finished fourth.  Jack Parker (125) earned sixth place after a 6-4 win by decision over SIUE's Tommy Dineen.  Josh Craig (174), wrestling for the first time this year placed sixth as well.  Cole Nance (157), Max Dansereau (133), and Darian Huff (184) nabbed seventh in their weight classes, while Alex Rivera (157) placed eighth.

"Positionally, we've made big gains," Shuck added. "It isn't quite showing up yet as a bunch of wins, but those are right around the corner if these guys continue to work and believer in themselves and their training."

The Knights return home Saturday, Dec. 11 with a dual against Ohio beginning at 5:00 p.m. inside Knights Hall.  Bellarmine will also send wrestlers to the Cleveland State Open that day.
