SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Bellarmine's
Sam Schroeder (184) has added to the young wresting program's history. The SoCon announced Schroeder as its Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, marking the first time a Knights player has won the award. The Knights are in their second season in Division I and sixth as a program.
Schroeder was stellar at the NUWAY Combat College Open on Jan. 6, winning all four of the matches he competed, including three by pin.

Perhaps more impressively, he battled for the Knights' only win at Campbell - a tough opponent who was picked second in the SoCon pre-season poll. Schroeder defeated Shane Quick 6-5, giving him a 5-1 record over the last two days of competition.
This season, Schroeder ranks second on the team with nine wins and is tied for first among Knights with three falls.
