BUIES CREEK, N.C. — After a late scheduling change due to health and safety protocols, the Knights traveled to Campbell on Sunday afternoon, where they fell in a SoCon dual 47-3. 
 
The Knights have unfortunately been short-handed multiple times this year due to injuries and health and safety protocols.  That was the case again Sunday, resulting in three forfeits.
 
"It was a tough situation today for the team with COVID taking away some opportunities, but our guys wanted to wrestle no matter what, and I love that," Knights Head Coach Ned Shuck said. "They had the right attitude and let it fly. Sometimes letting it fly didn't quite work out in our favor on the results side. We took the risk, but weren't able to snag the reward."
 
Bellarmine's bright spot was Sam Schroeder (184) who battled for a 6-5 win by decision over Shane Quick.  Ultimately, the healthier Campbell squad, who was picked second in the SoCon pre-season poll, was too much to overcome for the Knights.
 
"Sam Schroeder had a strong performance and his aggressiveness and never back down mentality helped him secure the come from behind win," Shuck added. "Health-wise he's not close to 100 percent. It's a great lesson for the rest of our team on how to battle through some adversity and wrestle like a Knight no matter the circumstances."

After a busy week, the Knights return to the mat next Sunday at home against Gardner-Webb.  The dual begins at 3:00 p.m. at Knights Hall.  The action can be viewed on BU Knights Sports Network.
