LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine wrestling wrapped up its season against Chattanooga at Knights Hall on Friday, dropping their final dual to the Mocs by a final score of 44-0.
 
Despite the loss, plenty of positive and reflective feelings were circulating Friday night as Bellarmine honored its eight seniors prior to the dual:

            -Gavin Grime
            -Corbin Hale
            -Brandon Lucas
            -Alex Rhine
            -Samuel Woolf
 
Despite the positive emotions pre-dual, a strong Chattanooga team was too much for the Knights. The Mocs were aided by Bellarmine's forfeit at 141 and tallied multiple major decision wins in the early bouts.  Devan Hendricks fought hard at 165, but came up short 4-0 against Drew Nicholson.  Beck (174) was in position to win his sixth straight SoCon match as he led 2-0 entering the final period.  Carial Tarter rallied, however, and emerged with a 5-3 win.  The dual was concluded by a spirited effort from Cadell against Matthias Ervin with Ervin eventually grinding out a 3-1 victory.

"A special thank you to our seniors that poured so much into Bellarmine wrestling," Knights Head Coach Ned Shuck said.  "We will be forever grateful for their contributions in the quest to build Bellarmine wrestling into a powerhouse program."

Bellarmine finishes its season 2-15 and 1-7 in SoCon action in its second year in Division I.  The Knights won their opening dual of the season in November against SIUE and defeated Presbyterian on Feb. 11 for its lone SoCon victory.
 
Eric Beck led the Knights with 16 wins this season, while become Bellarmine's all-time winningest wrestler with 92 career victories.  This season, Beck was joined by Cole Nance with 16, while Devan Hendricks had 15 wins, and Sam Schroeder earned 12.
 
Beck also led Bellarmine with five pins, while Wilkinson and Nance each collected four falls.  Jack Parker totaled a team-high three major decision wins this year.  Beck and Hendricks were tied with three tech fall victories this season.
