EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Bellarmine University baseball team fell 18-5 to Southern Indiana on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at USI Baseball Field.
Southern Indiana (5-3) won the three-game series after taking the final two contests against Bellarmine (4-2). The Screaming Eagles scored five runs apiece in the second and fifth as part of their 18-run outburst; they amassed 16 hits.
Senior outfielder
Will Aubel launched a three-run homer in the ninth for Bellarmine, his team-high third of the season. Senior second baseman
Peyton Back cranked an RBI double in the fourth and senior third baseman
Colin Bertsch added an RBI single in the sixth.
Seven different players accounted for the Knights' seven hits. Senior left-hander
Steven Thom pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Bellarmine will play at 4 p.m. (ET) Tuesday at Western Kentucky.
