LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The North Alabama baseball team has come to life against Bellarmine, securing the ASUN series Saturday with a 13-3 victory at Knights Field.
After beginning the season 0-12 in conference play, North Alabama (8-25, 2-12) has taken the first two of the three-games series with Bellarmine (10-25, 5-9). The Lions outhit the Knights 21-4.
North Alabama had a two-run homer in the third inning and added three more runs in the fifth for a 5-0 lead. The Lions plated five more runs in the seventh to increase the lead to 10-1.
Senior second baseman
Dylan Byerly cranked his first career homer in the fifth for Bellarmine. The Knights plated a pair of runs in the seventh when senior pinch hitter
Ashton Smith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and senior center fielder
Will Aubel drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
Freshman shortstop
Luke Scales collected two of Bellarmine's four hits.
The teams will conclude the series at 1 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
