Baseball drops series finale at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Austin Peay scored 14 runs in the sixth inning alone in defeating the Bellarmine University baseball team 25-4 in Sunday's ASUN series finale at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay (12-16, 5-4 ASUN) captured the series after winning the final two games. The Governors piled up 22 hits in the finale against Bellarmine (8-20, 3-6).

The Knights racked up 11 hits in the seven-inning affair and held a 3-1 lead after three innings. However, Austin Peay scored six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth before the 14-run onslaught in the sixth.

Senior center fielder Will Aubel and freshman shortstop Luke Scales had RBI singles in the second inning, senior designated hitter Colin Bertsch added an RBI single in the third and sophomore right fielder Casey Sorg drove in a run in the seventh.

Scales, senior second baseman Dylan Byerly and senior third baseman Peyton Back notched two hits apiece.

Bellarmine will play at 3 p.m. (ET) Tuesday at Ball State.
