LYNCHBURG, Va. — Liberty opened the final ASUN series of the season with a 5-0 victory over the Bellarmine University baseball team Thursday at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
Bellarmine (12-41, 7-21 ASUN) tallied only two hits, with freshman first baseman
Brady Morse collecting both. Garrett Horn improved to 5-4 and struck out 11 while allowing only one hit in 7.0 shutout innings for Liberty (25-27, 15-13).
Liberty scored one run in the third and added two apiece in the fourth and seventh.
Senior right-hander
Ryan Johnson tossed 1.0 scoreless inning of relief for Bellarmine, which will meet the Flames at 4 p.m. (ET) Friday in the second of the three-game series.
