KENT, Oh. – In their second trip to Kent in as many weeks, the Bellarmine University wrestling team came out on top at the 2025 Kent State Holiday Classic Open as the Knights produced seven individual placers for a team win.

Bellarmine accumulated 113 points in the effort, beating out the host Golden Flashes by two points for first place in team scoring.

Seven Knights earned a top six placement in their respective weight class, led by redshirt sophomore Andrew Liber and his third-place finish in the 197-pound weight class. Liber started his run with back-to-back decision wins to get to the semi-final round where he took his first loss. In the third-place match, Liber bounced back with a win by fall over teammate redshirt junior Kennedy Wyatt.

Wyatt was one of four Knights to place fourth, joined by redshirt sophomore Micah Medina (125), freshman Isaac Johns (157), and redshirt sophomore Evan Grazzini (285).

Grad student Daulton Mayer (285) and senior Thadd Huff (197) turned in fifth place finishes. Mayer returned to his pinning ways, totaling four wins, three of which came by fall. Huff also finished with a 4-1 record, winning twice with bonus points.

Up next, Bellarmine will enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays before kicking off the 2026 portion of its schedule with the Southern Scuffle and Soldier Solute open tournaments January 3-4.
