LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A pair of home runs highlighted the Bellarmine softball effort on Tuesday as the Knights fell to cross-town foe Louisville 10-8 at Ulmer Stadium.
Junior
Kendall Gaddie and sophomore
Lele Bennett provided all the firepower for Bellarmine (1-9). The duo blasted a solo home run each, putting up both of BU's runs.
Down 2-0 in the top of the second, Gaddie launched her first career homer, hitting the scoreboard in left field, to cut the Louisville lead in half.
The Cardinals scored seven more runs across the second and fourth innings, scoring four and three runs, respectively, to extend their lead to 9-1.
Facing an early run-rule, Bennett lead off the top of the fifth, pounding the third pitch she saw out of the park and onto E Brandeis Ave. for her second long ball of the season.
Louisville (7-3) carded the final run it needed in the home half of the frame to go up 10-2 and end the game early via mercy rule.
Up next, Bellarmine will make its 2026 home debut, hosting Westen Illinois and Northern Kentucky for the Bellarmine Softball Classic Friday, February 21 to Sunday, February 23.
