LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University baseball team fell 12–3 to Austin Peay in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Knights Field.
Austin Peay built an early lead with four runs in the first inning and added four more in the third to take control of the game. Bellarmine answered with two runs in the bottom of the first but was unable to generate sustained offense the rest of the afternoon.
The Knights threatened in spots but managed just six hits in the contest. Luke Scales provided the biggest swing for Bellarmine, blasting a solo home run to left-center field in the sixth inning for the team's final run.
On the mound, Bellarmine used multiple arms throughout the afternoon. After starter Deaton Oak worked three innings, the bullpen saw contributions from Austin Egan, Aaron Ragat, Evan Hart, and Drew Jennings, with Jennings striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.
For the series, Scales homered twice and drove in three runs, while Jake Bell consistently reached base and scored four runs across the weekend. Logan Murphy also highlighted the series with his grand slam in Saturday's win.
Up Next: Bellarmine returns to Knights Field on Tuesday to face Southern Indiana at 2 p.m., weather permitting, before traveling to Central Arkansas next weekend for its second ASUN series.
