LOUISVILLE, Ky — Bellarmine dropped game one of its ASUN series at Central Arkansas, falling 17-12 on Friday night at Bear Stadium.
The Knights struck first in the opening inning, as Luke Scales delivered a two-RBI double to give Bellarmine an early 2-0 lead. Central Arkansas responded with a big bottom half, scoring 10 runs to take control of the game.
Bellarmine answered in the fourth with a six-run inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Eli Watson—his first of the season—and run-scoring hits from Jake Bell and Bryce Anderson to cut into the deficit.
Watson finished with three RBIs, while Bell added two RBIs and Anderson drove in a run as part of an 11-hit effort for the Knights.
The Knights continued to battle late, plating four runs in the ninth inning, including Brayden Bruner's first career RBI, but could not complete the comeback.
Bellarmine will face Central Arkansas in game two of the series tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET.
