Softball defeated by North Alabama in series finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine softball closed out its ASUN home weekend against North Alabama, losing 12-2 on Sunday afternoon at Knights Field.

North Alabama (24-8, 7-2) powered its way to a third straight victory, hitting three home runs, a two-run shot in the second, a solo in the third and a grand slam in the seventh, to run away with a 12-2 win.

Bellarmine (10-23, 3-6) recorded just three hits in the game, with one each coming from juniors Morgan Williams and Kendall Gaddie and sophomore Lele Bennett.

The Knights entered the bottom of the seventh down 12-0 but still kept the energy high and tried to a mount a comeback, scratching across its first run thanks to an errant throw by UNA before Williams poked an RBI single into center field.

Up next, Bellarmine will head to Evansville, IN for a midweek contest against the Purple Aces on Wednesday, April 1 at 6 pm E.T.
